Tanner Wood, Putnam City High School Senior, has been selected for All-State Cheer! Tanner is the first male cheerleader from PCO to make the All-State Cheer team and is the first cheerleader in Putnam City since 2016! Way to represent Putnam City, Tanner!

2nd grade students in Ms. Blevins' class at Coronado Heights Elementary - Putnam City recently read the story of Pumpkin Jack and now they get to watch a pumpkin decompose! 🎃 It is exciting to see the students learn and use new vocabulary as they examine the pumpkin's progress.
With no shortage of spirit on either side, the Pirates took home the Battle of the Expressway win for the 2nd year over the Panthers! Final score: 56-20. 🏴☠️🐾
📚✨Our 6th graders at Western Oaks Middle School got to learn about the braille alphabet in connection to studying about Helen Keller. They also had a guest speaker talk about the technology available to the blind and deaf in our modern world.
One might think 250+ middle school students on a stage with stringed instruments might be chaos. Well, in the case of the All-City Orchestra Concert, it was anything but! 🎻 Beautiful music and a lot of growth were on full display for our middle school orchestra students. Thank you to the guest clinicians and conductors from Oklahoma City University and Oklahoma State University! 🎶
We are in LOVE with the new accessible sandbox at Lake Park Elementary! 💚 Thank you to Special Education Teacher, Laura Caruthers, for her dedication and hard work in recognizing a need for her students, applying for the grant through the Putnam City Schools Foundation, and seeing the project through to completion. The new accessible sandbox is super popular, bringing students of all abilities together for enrichment, sensory help, and increased opportunities for learning through play.

Mayfield Middle School PC went all out in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month during a schoolwide assembly. They had everything from poetry, staff recognitions, trivia, choir, dancers, and even a visit from USAO Drovers Soccer!

"Seat at the Table" students from all three high schools brought prominent Hispanics, past and present, to life as a unique and innovative way to celebrate and teach Hispanic Heritage.
Oklahoma City Thunder Reading Timeout made a stop at Wiley Post Elementary today! We always love it when the Thunder comes to visit! Today, students were read a great book to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and got to learn about Rebozos, or Mexican shawls. They even got to see and touch an authentic Rebozo!

They had special presentations from notable people like Frida Kahlo, Celia Cruz, and a few others as well as fantastic musical performances by Mexican singer, Imelda Juarez, and guitarist extraordinaire, Edgar Cruz. 🤩 What a great experience for the Rockets 🚀
