(WARR ACRES)- The Pirate men’s and women’s hoops teams will be a featured twice this season on “1340 The Game” as part of the Putnam City School District’s Game of the Week. Both Pirate teams are off to a successful campaign early in the 23-24 season. The Lady Pirates have particularly been a bright spot, notching two wins in their first 3 contests under first year head coach and alumnus, Porsche Young.
Fans can tune in to AM 1340 to catch the Pirates in action on January 12th and February 2nd. Calling the game for the broadcast will be legendary play-by-play voice John Brooks, with color commentary provided by PC District Athletic Director, Dr. Dick Balenseifen. The featured contests will be home tilts for the Pirates as they square off against Enid on January 12th and Sand Springs on February 2nd.
Brooks and Balenseifen will also be calling two games for sister schools Putnam City North and Putnam City West. North will be featured on February 6th and 13th and Putnam City West on January 26th and February 9th.
“Our stellar student athletes and coaches put in tireless hours to better themselves and their programs,” said Putnam City Athletic Director Jerrod Gatz. “We relish every opportunity to highlight their hard work and dedication. I want to thank Dr. Balenseifen and Mr. Brooks for creating an opportunity to do just that.”
