🎼 Putnam City Schools was well represented at the Circle the State with Song Festival this year! Out of 300 students, 154 were from 13 different Putnam City elementary and middle schools. We are so proud of all of these talented students and the dedicated teachers who have been working on their choral pieces for months! 🎤
🔬 Future scientists from Putnam City Schools visited the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) for Junior Scientist Day! They explored lab techniques, used real scientific equipment, and learned about ongoing medical trials 🧬

Meet Putnam City's newest celebrity, Lovely Zuniga Sosa, a 4th grader at Overholser Elementary! 🤩 A couple of months ago, author Scott Reintgen visited and talked with students about his popular books and gave students an opportunity to enter a nationwide contest to be written into his next book as an actual character! Well, skip to now and we have a winner! So now we're left wondering... is Lovely technically fiction or nonfiction? 📚
On this last day of school before Winter Break, the halls were filled with laughter, joy, and holiday cheer. ❄️ From cozy holiday PJs to jingling holiday parties, it was a perfect day to deck the halls with memories that will last all season long. 🎄

Malcolm Tubbs, OKC Thunder and OU Football Emcee AND PCW graduate, kicked off the morning reading his favorite book, 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘮 𝘎𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘈𝘯 𝘐𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯! 📖
Students from 10 different elementary schools, staff, and family members came together at PC High for the highly anticipated annual PC Stars of the Future event! ✨ This event is always fun as it is their first time participating in Special Olympics. There were definitely plenty of star athletes in training. 🤩

Thanksgiving spirit in action! 🤗 Child Nutrition prepared all the fixings, and then high school leaders stepped up to serve the delicious Thanksgiving lunch to our elementary students, spreading joy and setting an example across our District.🍴
🥧 Elementary students made their own pumpkin pies while learning about all the vitamins and healthy benefits of a pumpkin from our District's amazing Registered Dietitian at Sodexo at Putnam City Schools Child Nutrition! Fun fact, did you know a pumpkin is a fruit? 🎃
🌎 For Native American Heritage Month, many schools across the District are recognizing the vibrant history and culture in fun, meaningful, and creative ways. This morning we stopped by Ralph Downs Elementary as they had a great demonstration from PC Native American Student Services and Overholser Elementary with performances by Riverside Indian School.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of opening a brand-new book, especially one signed by the author! Scott Reintgen visited the Overholser Oilers and Western Oaks Elementary Warriors this morning. He talked about his newest book, "The Last Dragon on Mars," and answered many questions about his life as a full-time award-winning author! What a cool experience for our Putnam City students to inspire students to dream big and read more.

OKC Beautiful Foundation visited the budding little 'saplings' of Overholser Elementary today! It was all hands on deck—or should we say in the dirt—as everyone played a part in planting beautiful, fresh trees. Every tree planted is a lesson in patience, growth, and the plant life cycle #EcoEducation

Superintendent Dr. Rhodes ventures every week to visit our schools, see the action, talk to students and teachers, and participate in fun activities that he finds along the way. Today, we road along on his trip to visit the Lake Park Lions, Western Oaks Elementary and Middle School Warriors, Central Cubs, and the PC Aviation Academy. Kids will truly say the best things, including one today asking Dr. Rhodes, "Are you the President?" 🤓
